Reducing particle emissions and increasing the resistance to corrosion and wear of brake discs are two objectives in the development of the different Fagor Ederlan coating solutions.  

Essential solutions for the automotive industry 

Sustainability is a major challenge we are currently facing as an industry. This challenge is reshaping our market with the new paradigm of mobility, where electrification is of special relevance. The new regulations and the electrification of vehicles have a significant impact on all systems and components, including brakes.  

The new EURO 7 legislation will come into force in 2025. As a result, internal combustion vehicles with conventional braking systems will release brake particulate emissions above permissible levels. 

Emissions in electric vehicles should decrease due to the reduced use of mechanical brakes; however, due to this reduced use, corrosion in the brakes of electric vehicles will be greater, resulting in higher emissions. 

New developments are needed in the sector to address these problems and achieve solutions in terms of reduced particle emissions, lighter weight, and improved performance.
