Committed to people and the society around us
As a cooperative, people are at the centre of our project and we inter-cooperate with the environment to respond to our surrounding society’s real needs, being consistent with our personality and our socio-business project.

Human rights and working conditions
At Fagor Ederlan, we are committed to respecting and promoting human rights and decent working conditions. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity, and we strive to create a work environment that is safe, inclusive and fair for all of our employees and collaborators.
In addition, as a co-operative, we promote open and constructive dialogue with our employees and stakeholders, encouraging participation and engagement in the continuous improvement of our work practices.
Respecting human rights and promoting decent working conditions are not only ethical responsibilities, but also fundamental to the long-term success and sustainability of our business.

Health and Safety as an individual and collective responsibility.
Occupational risk prevention is a priority for Fagor Ederlan. Consequently, each one of us takes on active commitment to ensure the health, safety and well-being of both ourselves and that of all our companions.
With the aim of improving the quality of life of those who work at Fagor Ederlan, efforts are focused on preventive attitudes and adapting workplaces to people.

We work to add value to society and to the environment in which we live.

Participation
We promote active volunteering through direct involvement in social action projects.

Transformation
We transform the environment by transforming ourselves, becoming more self-organised, supportive and sustainable.

Commitment
We are committed to developing a more just society as a fundamental part of our socio-business project.

Inter-cooperation
We conduct our own initiatives as well as cooperating with multiple local social agents that promote a sustainable, equitable world.

Fagor Group Inter-cooperation. Giving back to society and the environment based on cooperative criteria
Since the very beginning, Fagor Ederlan and the other cooperatives that go to form the Fagor Group have contributed 12% of their profits to the Social Fund, with which we promote and support initiatives aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
We apply a community investment model that is fundamentally organised around the following three lines of action, and to which we allocated €2.6 million last year:
Through Gizabidea Fundazioa, we support educational development of the Debagoiena Valley, in response to future challenges faced by our society, in a fair, cooperative and innovative way.
We are developing a transformation movement to respond to our challenges as a community.
We help to promote Basque culture and the standardisation of the Basque language in both the workplace and locally.
Through Mundukide (ONG) we promote cooperative work in underdeveloped countries.
We support the cooperative values of our members, with awareness raising actions.
We are culturally rich with a broad linguistic diversity
As a global organisation, we live in culturally rich environments with different languages and cultures. We manage this linguistic diversity effectively to ensure that no one feels alienated, because we are all Fagor Ederlan.
The process of normalising the Basque language in Fagor Ederlan is a shared, open commitment within this global environment.
Knowledge
We have produced a map of the Fagor Ederlan teams’ language skills and offer the necessary resources to improve them. We develop personalised training plans, and teams have an advisor accompanying them at all times to ensure that the effort made by the workers is as effective as possible.

Use
To clarify our responsibility on the road to standardisation and ensure exemplary day-to-day behaviour, we have integrated language policy criteria into Fagor Ederlan’s management processes.
We create and support our own spaces for the use of the Basque language so that it has a growing presence within Fagor Ederlan.
At Fagor Ederlan we live in Basque and since 2013 we have been using external ‘Bikain’ assessment to identify areas for improvement, as well as to and learn from other experiences
