For the second year running, the Guipuzcoan cooperative has conducted awareness campaigns addressing energy savings, responsible use of water, proper waste management and sustainable mobility

Fagor Ederlan is going to launch the Edermugi mobile application with the aim of encouraging and promoting sustainable mobility when commuting

Thanks to measures implemented by Fagor Ederlan, the company has managed to reduce use by 50,000 plastic cups, 45,000 plastic bottles, as well as save 2,300 loaves of bread annually

Fagor Ederlan’s environmental commitment goes far beyond manufacturing lighter, more sustainable components that reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

We also apply this responsibility within our own organisation. As a result, this is the second year in which the cooperative has completed a cycle of awareness campaigns aimed at the company’s personnel, which has addressed energy savings, responsible use of water, proper waste management and sustainable mobility.

Similary, Fagor Ederlan is going to launch the Edermugi mobile application, aimed at encouraging and promoting sustainable mobility when commuting. This tool, currently at the testing phase, will offer its users the best options to get to the workplace: either by public transport, carpooling, bicycle, electric scooter or walking

Responsible consumption

Fagor Ederlan is also developing various measures to promote responsible use within the organisation itself. The use of reusable cups in coffee machines, the use of jugs in all the company’s canteens, and the use of bread slicers has also been encouraged.

These measures have managed to reduce use by 50,000 plastic cups, 45,000 plastic bottles, as well as save 2,300 loaves of bread annually.

Moreover, Fagor Ederlan is already offering local produce from the Caritas vegetable gardens in the canteen at its Eskoriatza plant. Likewise, it has also launched the ‘Beterri Buruntza Km0’ project in the Usurbil canteen.

With these projects, Fagor Ederlan is working in tandem on the same project: responsible use, local produce and Social Inclusion.

Social inclusion

Besides all this, the Gipuzkoan cooperative is also working with the Pauso Berriak programme promoted by Gureak and Atzegi to address Social Inclusion issues. Two people from this initiative have already been included at the Eskoriatza and Usurbil plants, with a new position planned in Arrasate.
